Opportunity For AP/CP Fellowship Trained Pathologist
MADISON, WISCONSIN (USA).
Our growing, highly selective private group of 13 pathologists in Madison, Wisconsin has an open partnership track position for an AP/CP trained pathologist with one or more subspecialty fellowships in surgical pathology and/or clinical pathology. Expertise in breast/gynecology, cytology, gastrointestinal/hepatobiliary, genitourinary and transfusion medicine would be of special value but all applicants with excellence in general surgical pathology and administrative leadership ability are encouraged to apply. Board eligibility or certification in both anatomic and clinical pathology is required.
Our practice provides anatomic pathology and clinical pathology services to 12 hospitals, outpatient surgery centers and multispecialty clinics in southern Wisconsin. We have subspecialists in hematopathology, dermatopathology, gastrointestinal pathology and cytopathology. Our surgical pathology volume approximates 55393 cases/year and our cytopathology volume approximates 2628 cases/year. Pathologists' assistants perform all gross examinations. We do not perform autopsies. There are approximately 390 bone marrow specimens each year and an active flow cytometry service. The group is independent.

Academic Hematopathologist
Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program and McMaster University

Applications are invited for a full-time academic hematopathologist in the Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program (HRLMP), with an academic appointment in the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine at McMaster University.
The successful candidate will join a team of three full-time hematopathologists providing a comprehensive diagnostic hematopathology service in one of the largest bone marrow transplantation and lymphoma centres in Canada. Provision of shared on-call responsibilities is a requirement of this position.
The candidate must have Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) certification in hematological pathology OR certification in anatomical or general pathology with RCPSC fellowship training in hematopathology OR American Board of Medical Specialties fellowship training in hematopathology. The candidate also must currently hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the Province of Ontario.
The successful candidate will hold an academic appointment with the rank commensurate to experience. They will be expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. A commitment to academic scholarship in the areas of education, quality improvement, knowledge translation, innovation, and/or clinical/translational research is essential.

- Is a motivated and collegial physician, with a strong sense of professionalism and excellent communication skills.
- Has training or previous experience in lymphoma and bone marrow diagnostics, body fluid and blood smear interpretation, flow cytometry and molecular hematopathology.

Required skills:
Candidate must have the ability to interpret immunohematology, coagulation and other laboratory findings, write clear clinical reports summarizing analyses, results and conclusions and be able to communicate findings and appropriate hemotherapy recommendations to clinical colleagues.

Blood Banking / Transfusion Medicine Medical Director

Seeking Medical Director for Pediatric Transfusion Medicine
at Arkansas’ only Academic Medical Center
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS (USA).
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Department of Pathology is seeking a full-time Medical Director of Pediatric Transfusion Services at Arkansas Children’s Hospital to join a diverse faculty of 50 pathologists who enjoy a collaborative environment with mutual support and respect across all divisions as well as an excellent variety of case materials and robust research programs. This position will oversee blood banking, tissue banking, and administrative support for our newly established and expanding pediatric bone marrow transplant program as well as clinical trials utilizing cellular and gene therapies. The successful candidate should have subspecialty training or experience in Transfusion Medicine, including apheresis and cell therapy.
UAMS is Arkansas’ only academic medical center, located in the capital city of Little Rock. UAMS has a strong affiliation with Arkansas Children’s Hospital (ACH) which is the state’s only pediatric health system. ACH is one of the largest free-standing children’s hospitals in the country with 336 beds, a level I trauma center, three intensive care units (including a level IV NICU), and the State’s only adult and pediatric burn unit. Additionally, ACH ranked in seven of eleven pediatric specialties in U.S. News World Report Best Hospitals for 2024. Transfusion services at both campuses are accredited by AABB, CAP and FACT. ACH performs about 10,000 pediatric transfusions annually, supported by a full-service immunohematology laboratory. Arkansas Children’s Hospital is currently undergoing a multi-year, multi-phase infrastructure expansion project that includes a newly constructed ambulatory surgery center and a 33,000 ft 2 state-of- the art anatomic and clinical pathology laboratory that will open in the Spring of 2026. Subsequent phases include a remodeled inpatient operating room with frozen section suite, outpatient clinics, and patient-focused easy-to-access services including registration, phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, radiology, billing, and medical records.
The successful candidate will also integrate into the UAMS transfusion medicine clinical services, including blood banking, apheresis, and cellular therapy. Additionally, there is strong potential to contribute to other subspecialty areas of interest. UAMS is a 535-bed tertiary care academic medical center that includes an adult level I trauma center, level IIIB NICU, and active stem cell and solid organ transplant centers. UAMS is proud to operate state-of-the-art facilities including flow cytometry, coagulation, in-house molecular and cytogenetic laboratories. UAMS performs over 30,000 transfusions annually, supported by our hospital blood bank through a wide range of automated and manual immunohematology testing, including platelet antibody identification and crossmatch, and component modification including irradiation and washing. The UAMS apheresis unit performs over 2,000 procedures annually for therapeutic or collection apheresis. Therapeutic procedures include plasma exchange, red blood cell exchange, extracorporeal photopheresis, leukocytapheresis, and thrombocytapheresis. Collection procedures include autologous and allogeneic hematopoietic progenitor cell collections, and other mononuclear cell collections. The cell therapy laboratory processes on-site and off-site collections and infuses over 600 products annually, including commercial immune effector cell products.
The UAMS Pathology Faculty are strongly committed to undergraduate and graduate medical education. The pathology residency program boasts a 100% board pass rate and includes subspecialty fellowship programs. Faculty members also participate broadly in both departmental/institutional committees as well as tumor boards at both UAMS and ACH. With a metro area population of 700,000, Little Rock has the amenities of a major metropolitan area. The downtown River Market, South Main and Argenta (North Little Rock) areas provide a walking district for dining, shopping, sports, museums, libraries, night life, concerts, festivals and a host of other activities. A major client of EORLA, The Ottawa Hospital (TOH) is a quaternary academic health sciences center with a large leukemia program treating approximately 80 new acute leukemia patients and performing over 200 bone marrow transplants per year. The program is helping Ontario build capacity for CAR T-cell therapy for ALL and lymphoma patients. TOH's benign Hematology program produces world-leading research in thrombosis. We operate the department's state-of-the-art molecular oncology diagnostic laboratory which includes NGS platforms for assessing Hematologic malignancies in support of precision medicine and clinical trials.

Health Sciences North (HSN) is recruiting a full-time general (AP/CP) or AP Pathologist. As the tertiary referral centre for Northeastern Ontario, HSN serves >600,000 residents, has 500 beds and hosts the North Eastern Ontario Cancer Centre.
Our department currently includes 8 pathologists providing comprehensive pathology services to HSN and other hospitals in the region. The Department. We are a very collegial department, with a strong culture of scholarship. The expectation of the successful appointee will include participation in routine hematopathology service including blood film, bone marrow, hemoglobinopathy, flow cytometry and hemostasis sign out, as well as to aid in the oversight and operation of the Transfusion Medicine Laboratory for Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC) and affiliated regional hospitals. We are an academic health sciences centre with a full Hematology/Oncology service, an active autologous stem cell transplant program, cardiac surgery, regional trauma centre, Level 3 NICU and renal transplant program. Although primarily a clinical position, a strong potential for and/or experience in innovative scholarly research or quality improvement would be an asset with the expectation that the candidate will also participate in collaborative research that would mesh with ongoing activities in the Division of Hematopathology and the larger Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine. Demonstration of a strong potential for teaching contributions in the Department’s undergraduate, graduate and residency training programs will also be expected.
Compensation and protected time. There is potential for flexibility in the balance of service and academic time commitments for this position. The minimum compensation for pathologists in Ontario is $383,000 (CAD) per year.

The blood bank laboratory is accredited by the AABB, CAP and the FDA. With a nascent cellular therapy
service, the blood bank also aims for future accreditation with the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular
Therapy. The service transfuses greater than 20,000 component products per year. The apheresis service
performs approximately 350 procedures per year including red cell/plasma exchanges, and CD34+ stem cell
collections for autologous transplant. As additional cellular therapy services such as allogeneic stem cell and
CAR-T/CAR-NK transplants will be added to the future list of services experience in this field is highly
desirable.
The position will include responsibilities in directing Transfusion Medicine at the system level, including
collaborating with blood bank sections at all affiliated hospitals, coordinating the services with other laboratory
sections, and working with medical specialists throughout the medical system in addressing institutional needs
in transfusion medicine.
The candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an independent research program in the general area of
transfusion medicine and blood banking. The candidate will also be expected to participate in teaching
Pathology residents, teaching Pathology and Laboratory Medicine courses, supervising clerkships for medical
students at Brown University and/or in providing instructional support to the medical technology training
programs in the Department of Pathology.

Transfusion and Transplantation Medicine Physician

(APL) Transfusion and Transplantation Medicine (TTM) program is seeking a qualified Full-Time Physician to provide provincial support for Cellular Therapy and Transfusion Medicine laboratories. A physician with completion of the Royal College Area of Focused Competency in Transfusion Medicine is preferred but a Hematopathologist, General Pathologist, Clinical Hematologist or Anesthesiologist with training and/or expertise in both transfusion medicine and cellular therapy would be considered. Qualifications
The successful candidate should have or be eligible for certification as a Hematologist, Anesthesiologist, Hematopathologist or General Pathologist with transfusion medicine certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in addition to a Cellular Therapy fellowship or clinical experience in biomanufacturing and good manufacturing practices (GMP). The successful candidate will be knowledgeable and experienced in immunohematology, optimal blood component therapy, therapeutic apheresis, cell collection and processing, and the regulatory requirements to operate a hospital-based donor center and transfusion service. Faculty in the Division of Transfusion Medicine participate in resident and fellow education and conduct independent and collaborative basic, translational, or clinical research.
The Division of Transfusion Medicine at Cedars Sinai supports a 1000 bed quaternary medical care facility and provides inpatient and outpatient care to a diverse population. Over 50,000 components are transfused annually in support of Level 1 trauma services, obstetric, neonatal, and pediatric patients, comprehensive cancer care, solid organ transplantation, hematopoietic stem cell and cellular therapies programs.

The Department of Pathology at the University of New Mexico Hospital (UNMH) is seeking qualified applicants for an open-rank clinician-educator track faculty position in the Transfusion Medicine Division. The successful applicant will receive an academic appointment at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine at a rank commensurate with their experience, and opportunities for laboratory directorships will be available.
For consideration, the candidate must have strong knowledge and experience in transfusion medicine, including therapeutic apheresis, stem cell collection and processing, immunohematology, transfusion products management, and regulatory compliance. Experience in laboratory hemostasis is also desirable but not required.
The applicant will report to the current Medical Director of the Blood Bank and share clinical coverage and educational responsibilities with the other members of the Transfusion Division, including didactics and service-related teaching for pathology and laboratory medicine residents and interdepartmental teaching of Medical School students, residents, and fellows (e.g., anesthesia, internal medicine, nephrology, hematology/oncology, etc.).
The Transfusion Medicine Division supports the University of New Mexico Health and Sciences Center, which includes a comprehensive cancer center and UNMH. UNMH is a 527-bed tertiary hospital and the only Level 1 Trauma Center in the state located in the middle of Albuquerque. UNMH specializes in trauma, burns, high-risk obstetrics, cardiothoracic surgery, adult and pediatric hematology/oncology, renal transplant, stem cell transplantation, and neonatal intensive care. UNMH’s blood bank is accredited by CAP and AABB. It transfuses approximately 17,000 blood products annually to adult and pediatric populations. The apheresis consultation service performs approximately 800-1000 procedures annually, including inpatient and outpatient red cell and plasma exchanges, extracorporeal photopheresis, leukocytapheresis, including autologous/allogeneic stem cell transplants, and other cellular therapies, including CAR-T.
The successful applicant will work in cooperation with TriCore Reference Laboratories, a nonprofit organization sponsored by University Hospital and Presbyterian Medical Services, to provide medical oversight for transfusion service operations. TriCore is New Mexico’s largest reference laboratory and one of the largest clinical laboratories in the United States (www.tricore.org).

Hematopathologist
CLEVELAND, OHIO (USA).
The Department of Pathology at The MetroHealth System, a teaching affiliate of Case Western University School of Medicine, is recruiting a full-time Hematopathologist with additional training or experience in some discipline of anatomic pathology or transfusion medicine. The position may also include directorship of the hematology, hematopathology and flow cytometry laboratories contingent on the candidate’s experience and qualifications. This position comes with a faculty appointment at Case Western Reserve University, at a rank commensurate with experience. Compensation is competitive with an excellent benefits package.
The pathology department of the MetroHealth System provides a full range of services to residents of Cuyahoga and neighboring counties. The “safety net” health system has just started a bone marrow transplant program. It is expected that the number of bone marrow biopsies will increase significantly in the next 3-5 years. In addition, a CAR-T lab has been brought up on the MetroHealth campus and will be expected to provide this innovative therapy to patients beginning in 2024. The health system also serves a large minority and immigrant community, including patients with coagulopathies and sickle cell disease. The new pathologist will be expected to contribute to patient care teams addressing the needs of these challenging patients. Participation in resident and medical student teaching, and contribution to clinical or translational research, are expected.
Applicants must hold a MD or DO degree with American Board of Pathology certification or eligibility in AP/CP or AP, as well as be board certified or board eligible in Hematopathology. They should be qualified for an unrestricted medical license in Ohio.
