We are a well-established private pathology practice seeking a full-time AP/CP board certified/eligible pathologist to join our group of 3 pathologists (we are fellowship trained in hematopathology, cytopathology and general surgical pathology) due to growth. Fellowship in cytopathology is preferred, but not mandatory. The typical daily case load includes GI, GU, gyn, breast, and non-gyn cytology. We do not interpret Pap smears and do not perform autopsies. This community hospital-based practice sees approximately 9,000 surgical pathology cases per year with less than 3 frozen sections performed per week, on average. After hours frozen sections and phone calls are exceedingly rare. We offer flexible scheduling and generous time-off. The pathologists have a close working relationship with clinicians, administration, and the laboratory staff. The pathologists sit on numerous hospital committees and are an integral part of the medical staff. As such, excellent interpersonal skills are required. This position allows you to use your full range of knowledge in both anatomic pathology as well as clinical pathology.
The position is partner tract and as such, we are looking to bring in an individual to mentor, assuring longevity within the practice. Your clinical pathology responsibilities are gradually acquired, with most duties resting with the senior pathologists until you are comfortable with the tasks. At all times, a senior pathologist is available for discussion and guidance.
This practice is in the college town of Bloomington-Normal, Illinois, a very livable city with a wide variety of cultural and entertainment options, quaint shops, art galleries and cafes as well as excellent restaurants. The pathologist will collaborate with laboratory leadership and clinicians on both hospital campuses, and will also have a close working relationship with the pathology faculty and departmental administrative leadership at Saint Louis University.
