Definition / general
  • Rare clonal proliferation of Langerhans cells; usually affects skin or lymph nodes, rare in stomach
Case reports
Gross description
  • Multiple, small sessile elevations in stomach
Microscopic (histologic) description
  • Diffuse collection of large, polygonal cells with oval nuclei containing longitudinal grooves
  • May occur in discrete clusters resembling granulomas (Arch Pathol Lab Med 1994;118:1232), may have scattered eosinophils or multinucleated giant cells
  • No prominent nucleoli, mitotic figures rare
