Bone and Soft Tissue Academic Surgical Pathologist
PORTLAND, OREGON (USA). The Department of Pathology at OHSU seeks a mid- to senior-level academic pathologist with
expertise or fellowship training in bone and soft tissue pathology. Qualified applicants will be AP or
AP/CP Board-certified and have strong diagnostic skills in general surgical pathology. The candidate
should have strong communication skills, a sincere interest in teaching pathology residents and
fellows, and an established record of scholarly work. Well-qualified applicants may also be considered
for appointment as Director of Surgical Pathology.
OHSU is a nationally recognized tertiary care facility for soft tissue and bone tumors. Together with
the Knight Diagnostic Laboratories, Pathology works with a multidisciplinary team of experienced
orthopedic surgeons, medical oncologists, and radiation oncologists offering personalized medical
care to patients with bone and soft tissue neoplasms. The pathology department reviews 700-800
complex and challenging bone and soft tissue cases per year and provides an active regional consult
OHSU is a major regional referral center OHSU and home to the Knight Cancer Institute, an
international leader in research and cancer treatment, and other well-known institutes, offering a
variety of collaborative research opportunities. The caseload is varied and challenging and includes
over 21,000 surgical cases and 3000 consult cases. The Department of Pathology has a collegial
faculty, 12 residents, a post-sophomore fellowship program, and five post-graduate fellowships. We
are supported by excellent molecular genetic laboratories and a state-of- the-art core laboratory.
The scenic OHSU campus overlooks culturally vibrant downtown Portland, Oregon, and is less than 90
minutes from the Oregon Coast and Cascade Mountains, where opportunities for outdoor recreation
